The Making of a Scientific Mind

As part of the Lodha Foundation ecosystem, students and educators from Lodha Oakwood School had the opportunity to engage with Prof. Jainendra K. Jain, Founding Director of the Lodha Theoretical Physics Institute and 2025 Wolf Prize laureate. The session explored how curiosity, perseverance and independent thinking shape scientific excellence, inspiring participants to embrace lifelong learning and the pursuit of knowledge through an engaging conversation with one of the world’s leading physicists.

Curiosity Meets World-Class Expertise

At Lodha Oakwood School, students go beyond the classroom to engage with leading thinkers and researchers. Through visits to the Lodha Mathematical Sciences Institute in Wadala and interactions with its Founding Director, Dr. V. Kumar Murty, along with conversations with scientist Prof. Arnab Bhattacharjee of IISER Pune and mathematician Prof. Marc Levine at O-CODE 2026, students gain exposure to ideas in mathematics and science. These experiences broaden perspectives, deepen understanding and show how knowledge is explored and developed.

Where Ideas Take Shape

O-CODE 2026 brought learning to life through hands-on STEAM experiences. Through workshops, passion projects and activities led by educators and partners such as the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, The Innovation Story and Tinker Village, students built, experimented and tested ideas while tackling real-world challenges. The event encouraged creativity, collaboration and problem-solving, inspiring students to turn curiosity into action and grow as confident learners and innovators.

Creating Centres of Discovery

Great schools are built around great libraries, not simply as repositories of books, but as spaces that inspire inquiry and discovery. Lodha Oakwood School hosted a workshop for Lodha School Principals and librarians in April 2026, facilitated by library consultant Ms. Heeru Bhojwani, exploring the transition from a traditional library to a future-ready learning centre. From designing a spiral library curriculum to embedding information literacy across subjects, principals and librarians explored way to nurture curiosity and strengthen teaching and learning.

Empowering Educators

Supporting educators means giving them the same trust and connection they build for students every day. The Lodha Oakwood School teacher offsite brought staff together away from the classroom through activities centred on collaboration, reflection and shared purpose. The experience strengthened relationships among peers and reinforced alignment towards a shared vision for the school community.

The Resilience to Grow

Sports Day 2025-26 brought the school together for a morning of energy, perseverance and team spirit. Beginning with the Sports Captain’s oath and opening ceremony, students competed across sprints, hurdles and relay races, cheering one another through every event. The morning concluded with prize distribution, celebrating achievement, resilience after setbacks, integrity in competition and determination to keep striving. It reminded students that important lessons are learnt through challenge, effort and the courage to give one’s best.

Many Cultures, One Community

Annual Concert 2025-26, held in March, took students across continents through music, dance and performance. Exploring cultures, traditions and stories from around the world, The World Around Us encouraged students to look beyond the familiar and connect through diversity. From the drums of Kenya to the flamenco of Spain, performances helped students appreciate different perspectives and build empathy for communities beyond their own experiences.
